Monster Cupcakes and Cream Board Cafe

Monster Cupcakes Itaewon
Cream Board Cafe Apgujung

Recently I have managed to visit a couple of unique cafes around Seoul. The first one I would like to tell you about is Monster Cupcakes. Located in Itaewon this is a little cafe that specializes in scary cupcakes, beverages and stocks the famous Monster energy drink. Cupcakes range from around 4,000 - 5,000 won and are very interesting in their designs. You can dine in (limited seating) or of course take away.
Either take a long walk from Itaewon station or a shorter walk from Noksapyeong station. Turn right up the street where you see the army base on the corner. It might be about 50 meters up the street on the left side.

Another unique kind of cafe you can find in Korea is a board cafe. Here you can meet with your friends and play board or card games. There is also a place to buy drinks and snacks. I guess this is just another way to get out of your apartment, meet up with friends and have a good time together. Anyway here are some pictures of the place so you can understand what I am talking about:

Salon Du Chocolat Seoul 2013

Salon Du Chocolat Seoul 2013 South Korea
17th to the 20th of January 2013

Chocolate galore! It was a chocolate lovers dream in Seoul this week with the Salon Du Chocolat Exhibition on COEX Seoul.

15,000 won got you a ticket and the opportunity to experience chocolate from around the world. There were many fabulous chocolate sculptures and dresses with chocolate garments and buttons, decorations and bodices.
There were many chocolate manufacturers from around the world selling samples of their goods. There were not many free samples but was was on offer was not extremely expensive. I didn't purchase any chocolate myself but it was still fun to see all the different styles of chocolate and the delicious cakes on offer as well ^^.

Check out the pictures and YouTube video for more:

Dragon Jjimjilbang Yongsan Seoul South Korea

Dragon Jjimjilbang Yongsan Seoul South Korea

This weekend I was lucky enough to visit one of the most famous Jjimjilbangs in Seoul, the Dragon Spa and Resort. Located right next to Yongsan Subway Station it is a tourist attraction and hot spot for locals to go and relax and enjoy the heat during the cold winter months.

As it was my first time I had no idea what to expect. The facility offers an amazing array of things to do and see there. For example there is a games room, cinema, PC room, Barber, a place to have your nails done and have a massage as well as a restaurant and many other things to enjoy. It costs 12,000 won for a 24 hour period and for this reason Jjimjilbangs are popular with overnight stayers as there are various sleeping rooms. So if you want really cheap accommodation for the night and you are travelling light you could consider a Jjimjilbang for the night ^^. There are hot room and cold rooms and a common area where you can sit on the warm floor and watch TV. Yes the whole complex is heated so its a great place to escape the winter cold.

Here are a few pictures I took with a small portable camera:

If you get the opportunity to visit a Jjimjilbang I highly recommend you go and enjoy a unique experience! ^^

Well that all for this week. Short and sweet... I will be back next week with an exciting update for you to enjoy. Until then have a great week! ^^

Swarovski Exhibition Seoul South Korea November 8th 2012 to February 17 2013

Swarovski Exhibition Seoul South Korea November 8th 2012 to February 17 2013

Daelim Museum hosts the spectacular Swarovski Crystal Exhibition. Covering 3 floors the exhibition boasts a magnificent display of crystal creations from jewelry to crowns, shoes, purses, dresses and more!

Currently admission to the exhibition has been reduced and I believe an adult ticket is 7,000 won.
Perhaps this is a temporary reduction in price so please don't quote me on this ^^.

Expect there to be a few people there as this is a popular attraction at the moment as the winter months are encouraging people to visit exhibitions and museums or anything that is inside ^^.

Here is some information regarding the exhibition site:

Wild Animal Adventure 2012 Seoul South Korea

Wild Animal Adventure 2012 Seoul South Korea

www.hianimal.com

Currently on at the War Memorial Museum in Yongsan or just outside Itaewon is the World Animal Adventure Exhibition. Here you can see and touch "real" wild animals that have undergone the process of taxidermy (or being stuffed). Some of these animals were old zoo animals and so on that have been preserved posterity. While I was waiting to go into to the exhibition I had a scary thought that this could be how the future generations of children will see wild animals! These animals may not even exist in the future so perhaps this is what a "zoo" might look like in the future!

It was a pretty good exhibition but a little costly I think around 12,000 won per adult but worth it to see these animals close up without the danger. Look out for the kids as there are many with their parents taking photos.

Here are a few photos I took and a slideshow:
