The Kahn 3 and Hell Pizza Korea

Starting with Saturday...

Hell Pizza.... what?... that's right! The New Zealand pizza franchise is actually in Korea... well around Seoul anyway :)

So we went to the Apgujeong Line 3 Exit 3. Turn around and walk down past Dunkin Doughnuts and then past an KB* Bank and you cant miss it.

I had to splash out on this trip because it has been quite some time since I last had a hell pizza so we got a cheesus and a sloth pizza with some wedges and red bull. We even had honey dipping sause for the pizza?!

Delicious :) Wow I forgot how good wedges can be :) So if you are a kiwi definitely go along and have a bite or two to eat.

Sunday was The Kahn 3 another fighting event. The under card fights were actually great! With my favorite being the Lee Na Hee v Lee Ji Whan which you can see by clicking that link or later on in this post.

The main poster event was ok but the Korean fighter was pretty dominant and at a crucial moment in the fight my SD card filled up and I had to swap cards but I did get the replay on film.

Overall I would say the quality or ferocity of the fights was better than Road FC 005 but the venue was a little cold :/

So check out the fights here... if you are wanting to go to Road FC 006 February the 5th here is the link: http://ticket.interpark.com/Global/Play/Goods/GoodsInfo.asp?GoodsCode=11018741

Taekwondo Black Belt, NZIE Teach Overseas Korea, Drum Cat

Finally after 3 months it was time to celebrate at the arrival of my Taekwondo Black Belt!!!

It was also a farewell to my "foreign" taekwondo friend Amanda who has now left Korea for other adventures around the world. I wish her and her boyfriend all the best for the future :)

So here is a picture of everybody at dinner last week:

Saturday I went with my friend to meet up with some New Zealand teachers at 3 Alleys Pub in Itaewon. Geoff and Mollie were there as well. It was great to see them and also strange as the last time I spoke to them I was in New Zealand preparing for my Korean adventure!

So if you are in New Zealand you can check out their facebook page and contact Geoff if you are interested in a Korean adventure of your own :)

This could be a picture of you?....

Finally for the weekend we attended a fantastic performance called Drum Cat. Five Korean women playing drums and a cameo from a Korean violinist made for a fantastic night out with high energy and banging and thumping and dancing and clapping :)

We had the front row and I cant think of any place better to be to witness such a fantastic musical and visual display.

So here is a clip so you know what its all about (kindly uploaded by someone on youtube :)

Sailing on the Han River & Road FC 004 MMA

Yet another long weekend in Korea :)

Sunday lay a fantastic opportunity to go sailing on the Han river. Although it was a brisk day (and by brisk I mean a little chilly) it was just right for a bit or a spin on the Han.

3 boats went out with ours each with a different party of sailors. We spent an hour going up and down the Han and my friend had the opportunity to sail the boat herself and did a couple of doughnuts before managing to gain control of the vessel and sail up under the bridge and back toward port.

Here is the official web link if you fancy a late autumn / fall sail:

After the sail we went to the restaurant right next door and had a fabulous Australian beef steak; the best steak I have had in Korea :)

Monday rolled around and as I mentioned last week there was another MMA event on so my friend and I, a colleague of mine, his girlfriend and a client went to see some blood and action!
Road FC 004 Young Guns.

The fights were fantastic with some real hardcore action. Blood was spilled and huge hits were seen so it was all good! :) Everyone enjoyed themselves although the women were a little taken aback by the violence :)

Lets Rock Festival 2011 & MMA ChangDong Station

Finally got around to updating this week :)

Saturday I found myself at the 2011 Lets Rock Festival. The event was held next to the Han river and I found the location curious as parking and ease of access to get to the event was not exactly easy... as the day went on the cars started piling up and some interesting parking places were utilized such as on the motorway or just about anywhere there was enough space for a vehicle.

The early morning was not exactly "rock" but as the night came on the harder sounding bands appeared. However the size of the crowd was not as big as I expected but it was a fun atmosphere none the less. Here is some photos and video's of what was happening there. I did not spend the whole day there but the morning and night and skipped the afternoon.

Sunday ChangDong Station right next to exit one on the right there was a free open air MMA Kickboxing event which was an all age competition from very young to adult and some of the fights were really impressive. I spent a few hours there but the sun was very hot and I went out for dinner before the night events began but here is a taste... by the way Road FC 004 is on at the Hilton Hotel on the 3rd of October... however I cannot find a google link...so.... maybe if you have a Korean friend that is into MMA they will know :)

So another "chocka block" weekend done and dusted... bring on next weekend for some more excitement! Another long weekend too! Excellent! Have a great week! :)

P.S. Have a look at one of my students websites. They have designed and made handbags from Korean leather and are available in selected stores and online. Here is the link and a few pictures :)
